In our opinion, the only thing the Raspberry Pi 3 and Pi 2 are truly lacking is an I²C port (Of course you may have guessed by looking at our product offerings, we are admittedly a little biased. No worries) The XPI is a non-invasive I²C adapter complete with level shifter providing you with a 5V I²C port for use with ANY of our I²C devices. The I²C port points outward toward the outside edge of the board, and terminates directly above the HDMI port. The XPI does not consume the 40-pin expansion port, as it is equipped with a pass-through connector, freeing the 40-pin connector for other purposes, making it a truly non-invasive design.
Add XBee communications to your Raspberry Pi 2 & 3, greatly expanding communication options. Expand your Raspberry Pi to include industrial wireless options from Digi.com, such as ZigBee, 802.15.4, or our favorite Industrial wireless: S3B. The XPI is also compatible with select XBee communication adapters from dcubestore.com such as USB, RS-232, Bluetooth, WiFi, and Ethernet (Be sure to ask dcubestore.com for compatibility of Ethernet modules!). The XPI overlay shield brings the power of XBee communications to your Raspberry Pi 2 & 3, as there are now many other manufacturers supporting the XBee footprint.
NOTE: The XPI adapter provides a power solution as well as TX and RX data connections to the Raspberry Pi 2 & 3. No other XBee pins are mapped to the Raspberry Pi 2 & 3.
This adapter provides a general-purpose I²C port, compatible with our complete line of I²C devices. Control relays, monitor current, and read just about any kind of sensor you can imagine. This adapter should be used with Raspberry Pi 2 & 3 only.
