Designed to get student ready for Industrial IoT applications, this training controller introduces students to the importance of I2C Communications and it’s critical role in nearly all IoT applications. Designed specifically for classroom use, the NCD IoT Training Controller provides an ideal cross-platform interface for today’s most demanding IoT training courses. Features of this controller include a on-board HCPA-5V-U3 temperature humidity sensor, MPL115A2 pressure sensor, PCA9685 PWM Controller, MCP9306 GPIO controller, ADC121C021 Analog to Digital Converter, an I2C OLED display, as well as full on-board power regulation. The PCA9685 PWM controller is used extensively throughout this design to control a on-board RGB LED, three LEDs for stop-light emulation (Red, Yellow, Green), a integrated Buzzer, a hobby servo motor (not included), and speed control of a small external DC motor (not included). On-board terminal blocks are used to access on-board GPIO, power, and peripherals.
I2C Input and Output connectors are used to interface to your favorite microcontroller. Interface to Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Particle, Onion, ESP32, and ESP8266 devices. Connect with a computer using the NCD USB to I2C Converter.
This device requires a 12V External power supply (not included).
What is the I2C Interface?
The supplier of plug and play modular hardware using the I2C Interface connector standard. It allows you to chain together several devices on the I2C bus, and communicate to each device individually at high speed (subject to the limitations of I2C). The I2C Interface uses a standard 4-Pin I2C Input and I2C Output connector. These devices communicate on the power of 5V I2C data and provide 5V DC power through this connector. The advanced embedded devices use standard I2C communications for all data transport, which is supported by nearly every microcontroller in production today. The I2C Interface is strictly a 5V standard, which is ideal for transport across longer cables. The device Package always includes a 6″ (152mm) 4-conductor I2C cable. The I2C based Mini Modules always include a 3″ (76mm) 4-conductor I2C cable. Cables and connectors are available separately for designers who would like to include their own I2C Interface into their designs.
Plug and Play Connectivity
The advanced Embedded devices will plug into any available I2C Output. This includes just about everything we make in the DCube Store IoT Category, including all the other IoT devices. We also supply a wide range of I2C adapters that make it easy to plug I2C Devices directly into most computing platforms. The advanced Interface adapters are available for Arduino, Banana Pi, BeagleBone, Bluz, C.H.I.P., ESP8266, Onion Omega, Particle Photon and Electron, PyCom, Raspberry Pi, 2, 3, and Zero, and Windows. We are always working to add new platform support for I2C devices. These Interface devices are compatible with just about everything in the microcontroller industry.

Powering I2C Interface Devices
Some I2C devices require an external power supply, others may be powered through the 4-Pin I2C bus connector at 5VDC, and other devices are jumper selectable between external and I2C bus power. All I2C mini-modules are powered through the 5V I2C bus connector, greatly simplifying connectivity.
